We want to share a positive evolution in the life of Orms – which is planned to strengthen the level of service and skills which we offer. It will be a natural evolution of our culture, give real financial benefits to the whole Orms team and ensure the continuity of the excellence which we seek to provide our clients and collaborators.
On 2nd March 2018 the majority ownership of Orms Designers and Architects Ltd was transferred to an Employee Ownership Trust. John McRae will continue to retain a shareholding and be a member of the Trustee Board. Richard Jones – long standing friend and collaborator of the firm – will be chairman of the Trustees. The Orms team have elected Valerie Tam as the third trustee. They will work with an elected Employee Council to promote a ‘partnership culture’ and strengthen everything that we do. The Trust Board will provide a ‘non executive’ overview of the business to ensure its managed in the best interests of all employees.
The 4 directors of Orms – Oliver Richards, John McRae, Richard Keating and Colin McColl will continue to manage the company and the ownership change reaffirms our commitment to ‘creating an architecture that listens’ and our continuing personal leadership of our projects. That is what we enjoy.
Over the last 6 months we have made a number of internal appointments and promotions which recognise the strength. experience and talent of the senior team within the company. They are the future of Orms and have been integrally involved with the excellent and varied series of projects which we have recently delivered and are currently working on.
We are excited about the potential of this change to harness enormous energy, skill and talent.
