Our BIM Manger, Anna Fiejtek talks about the journey toward BIM certification and why it was important to the practice to achieve this ISO award.
Having been a passionate advocate for the benefits of BIM in practice I am delighted to announce Orms was awarded BRE Global ISO 19650-2:2018 Certification for Business in June 2021. We are extremely pleased that the practice can now formally confirm the level of Orms BIM maturity and our ongoing commitment to implementing the best national and international standards and procedures across our projects.
Having been personally involved in developing and implementing BIM for many years with the practice I have developed a number of office protocols and best practice guides. Initially they were based on British Standards (BS) and Publicly Available Specifications (PAS). Since those documents have been replaced by international (ISO) BIM standards, we transitioned our processes and documentation to match those. We have now undertaken and completed the certification process with BRE confirming that Orms are providing the highest level of BIM services to our clients.
The certification provides our clients with the assurance that Orms BIM standards and procedures, reviewed BIM models and documentation on live projects are in accordance with international standards. This also incorporated checks on our IT systems and our general ISO 9001 approved quality and information management procedures.
Importantly for us, BIM certification is not a one-off exercise, the standards and opportunities with BIM are constantly expanding and we want to ensure our developing systems are continuously audited and recertified.
