No1 New Oxford Street is the new identity of Commonwealth House, an Art Moderne building on the corner of New Oxford Street and High Holborn.
Our refurbishment of the building has imaginatively revived the original design of the building’s creator. With an aesthetic that is partly a celebration of the Art Moderne era and simultaneously a strikingly modern piece of architecture.
In keeping with the architecture, the suite of signage and graphics is sensitive to the period of the buildings’ conception. Using a thoroughly Art Moderne font throughout, complimented with the recurring hexagon graphic – a nod to the green tiling from the building’s facade.
Materials used include: etched and enameled door push panels, screen-printed matt acrylic hexagons, laser cut acrylic for the tenant index (not shown), cut vinyl text and stencilled spray-painted bike symbols.
